There was raininguru, relentlessly defended the school even after s/he got fired from. Is maybe we should consider looking into, not this blablah’s personal issue or USnews which we all know by now how flawed and silly to put on the pedestal, esp. Must having personal grudge to the school or Savannah. I see and understand SCAD fans getting upsetīut look, this blablah is just doing this for sake of doing, like mom4 said somewhere in other thread, why anyone would want dig up thread from 2006 just to dis SCAD? I replied this and that, but don’t know what happened to the kid. Here is the old thread for OP, about SCAD sequential art kid I’ve hear MICA’s area is sketchy too, but I would bet there are parents on this board with kids there, who might disagree. You can probably check those if you are concerned. Each school is requried to post a campus safety sort of report. She got a merit scholarship.Īs far as neighborhoods go, if you are in any good sized city, you just need to use common sense. If you have any questions in particular, pm me and I’ll be happy to answer what I can. At any rate, she is an illustration major, with an interest in comic art as well. She said she was going to put together a first year experience but I’m not sure she has does it yet. You can read her first semester experience in the following link. Just because a school looks flashy, cool and expensive doesn’t mean is a good one! Save some money to risk your life or living in fear? (Savannah has one of the most horrible chrime reputation in the US). This is the list of the best US Colleges: ( )Īs you can see the savannah college of art and design (SCAD) is ranked #134 !!!Īlso consider a safe place to study. Second: Education is the investment of your life! Get the best education or at least a decent one. I heard from students and parents real “horror stories” about that. …going to the savannah college of art and design just because the school " offers an academic as well as portfolio scholarship"? įirst of all, read all the “fine prints” about SCAD’s scholarships. If anyone has any experience/advice on any of these schools it would be greatly appreciated! I like that they have a Career Services program that will help you find work for after you graduate, as well. It would also be nice to know where I'm going early (assuming I get in, but I'm confident that I would probably be accepted). I like that SCAD offers an academic as well as portfolio scholarship, and I'm planning on applying early in hopes that I will have a better chance at getting a scholarship - they've said that they give them out earlier rather than later. If I was to go to SCAD (or any other art school, for that matter, as they're all fairly expensive) I need some kind of scholarship from the school. I believe I have a strong portfolio as well. I go to a college preparatory school and have decent grades and SAT scores. I'm planning on visiting MICA and VCU this summer but probably won't be able to see RISD and CIA due to the distance. All of these offer Illustration, but not Sequential Art. I've looked at MICA (Maryland Institute of Art), RISD (Rhode Island School of Design), CIA (Cleveland Institute of Art) and VCU (Virginia Commonwealth University) and their art program. I live in Virginia, so GA is far away (the distance doesn't really matter to me, though), not mention that SCAD is $40,000 a year (including room and board). My dream is to become a graphic novelist. I have looked at Illustration as well, which is offered at more colleges, but my true passion lies with Sequential Art. I'm a rising senior in high school and I'm very interested in going to SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design) because of their Sequential Art major as well as the feel of the city and the school.
